ARIADNE
Sister ships: ABDIEL, APOLLO, LATONA, MANXMAN, WELSHMAN
Pennant Number: M 65
Notes: A successful class of fast minelayers, also used for such duties as running special cargoes of ammunition to Malta. APOLLO and her sister ARIADNE were built to a slightly modified design than the first four of the class (ABDIEL, LATONA, MANXMAN and WELSHMAN).
ARIADNE served in the Mediterranean in 1944, and was transferred to the Far East in 1945. Following World War II, ARIADNE's flag superior was changed from "M" to "N". ARIADNE was laid up at Sheerness in 1946 and she was never recommissioned. ARIADNE was scrapped in June, 1965.
A special "thank you!" to the following on-line source for additional information on the ARIADNE: http://uboat.net/allies/warships/class.html?ID=77&navy=HMS
