DOUBLE-SIDED HEXES
The TM® video shows making double-sided hexes with "flatland" features -- crop hexes, flat hexes and road hexes. In my personal opinion -- I would not advise doing this. Yes, it will "increase" the number of hexes you have available. However -- one of the best parts of TM® hexes is their "three - dimensionality". Adding bushes adds a texture... a thickness... a third dimension. Even crop hexes have a slightly uneven surface -- which sits above the base layer of the hex. When you flip one of these hexes over to use that reverse side, that uneven surface will lift the "bottom" of the hex above its neighboring, "non-flipped" hexes.
Also... I like to mark the bottom of my hexes. I would imagine in a gaming situation with other players, having your hexes marked would keep them from getting mixed up with your fellow gamers hexes when it comes time to pack up and go home.
Of course, like everything else -- your hobby is your choice. Do as you see fit -- but if you ask for my advice, I'd advise against the double-sided hexes.
