PAINT

While you want to use a good quality paint for your 1:285 scale armor...  scenery is much more "forgiving" of "lesser quality" paints.  I use the two-ounce bottles of acrylic craft paints, found at a local craft store, for all of my scenic work.  I do buy larger bottles of a tan color, used for most of the "base work" on the hexes, and of the dark green I use to paint the outside edges of the hexes (to give them a "finished" look).  And my local craft store also sells "empty" bottles, which I use to custom-mix colors, make a water/glue mix I use, store small quantities of other liquids, etc.

A note; others have touted the use of these "lesser quality" acrylic paints to paint their micro-armor, noting both the very flat finish and the relative cost when compared to the "model" paints.  My note above is my personal preference, and I believe that of many of our fellow modelers.  (As I understand it, the pigments in the "good quality" paints are more finely ground than in the "lesser quality" paints, and will thus cover with a thinner coat, allowing more detail to show through.)  But, like most things in life -- to each his or her own!!
